New Haven’s Ferry Street bridge repair to bring detour

he Ferry Street bridge between Middletown Avenue and State Street will be closed to traffic beginning “on or around April 25” for repairs to the bridge over the railroad tracks, according to the state Department of Transportation. The $3 million project, awarded to the Rotha Contracting Co., will include replacing the bridge deck, repairs to the substructures and steel truss members, installing new joints, replacing the bearings and steel stringers and milling and paving of the roadway, according to the DOT. It is scheduled to be completed about Sept. 13. A detour will bring cars from Ferry Street to Lombard Street to Blatchley Avenue and to State Street. Cars traveling in the opposite direction will use the same streets.
