Malloy Signs Portions of the Budget Bill But Rejects Hospital Tax

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy signed the two-year, $41.3 billion state budget bill Tuesday, but he used his power to veto a section of the nearly 900-page document that related to the controversial hospital tax. Senate Republican leader Len Fasano said he expects legislators to return to Hartford within the next two weeks to either override Malloy’s line-item veto or vote on an amendment to fix language regarding the hospital provider tax.
