Glastonbury firm lands Killingly power plant contract

Glastonbury-based Gemma Power Systems will quarterback engineering, procurement and construction work on a major power plant to be built in Killingly starting later this year. Gemma, a subsidiary of Maryland’s Argan Inc., said Thursday that it won the contract from the plant’s developer, NTE Energy LLC. Approved by the Connecticut Siting Council last summer, the $700 million Killingly Energy Center will be a 650-megawatt dual-fuel (natural gas and diesel oil) combined cycle plant.
