Connecticut lawmakers begin hearing into Diamantis’ school construction office

Amid testimony before Connecticut lawmakers Monday, a top state official said they intend to hire an outside firm to do a comprehensive review of the school construction program formerly run by Konstantinos Diamantis. A top deputy to Gilman, Noel Petra, said DAS has been engaged in a full review of the policies that were in place in the office when it was run by Diamantis. Petra has been running the office since Diamantis’ departure, and Gilman said a search for a full-time replacement is still ongoing. The school construction hearing began Monday with an admonition from Democratic committee leaders to keep questions relevant to the operations of the Office of School Construction Grants and Review, rather than the broader scandal involving the office’s former director Konstantinos Diamantis.
