Construction was slated to begin this summer, but was pushed back to November. For the past six years, this roughly $8.5 million state project has been in the planning and design phase, according to Greg Dembowski, community development specialist. Approved upgrades, paid for by state and federal funds, include sidewalks, bus shelters, and left-turn lanes and traffic lights at several intersections. The town hopes the project will prevent car accidents and alleviate traffic.
