Speaker: Legislature May Take No Action On Casinos This Session

House Speaker Joe Aresimowicz said Tuesday he would not be surprised if the legislature takes no action this year on casinos. MGM Resorts International has been lobbying hard for a Bridgeport casino, but eastern Connecticut lawmakers have been pushing equally hard to preserve jobs and the money the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes have been paying to the state under compacts since the 1990s.
