Norwalk Harbor Keeper steps up pressure on DOT to rethink Walk Bridge replacement

In January 2018, Norwalk Harbor Keeper filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court, challenging the DOT, FTA and U.S. Department of Transportation to rethink the bridge replacement plan. The nonprofit group asked the court to invalidate the state and FTA’s plan to replace the Walk Bridge with a new 240-foot lift bridge and instead “fully evaluate a fixed bridge alternative.” On Tuesday, the plaintiffs and defendants filed motions for summary judgment, asking the court to dismiss the the other’s case. Accompanying the requests were briefs and memorandums laying out their respective positions.
