Months-long Plainfield bridge project will mean detours, ramp closure

Crews starting on Friday will begin the 19-month effort to replace the bridge, labeled #00302, running over Route 14 and the Moosup River in the Moosup section of town. The span, located on Interstate 395, will be upgraded with a new deck and parapet walls, along with concrete and steel repairs and a paint job to the lower superstructure. The work, which will not be finished until November 2021, will affect drivers on both sides of the highway, as well as those traveling in town. The $11.2 million job will be handled by the New York-based McNamee Construction Corp. and administered by the DOT’s District 2 office in Norwich.
