Lawmakers To Try Again On Budget Vote Friday; Budget Bill Released

After a compromise budget deal didn’t receive a vote late Thursday, legislators will return to the Capitol today for a second attempt to vote on a taxing and spending plan to close a two-year projected deficit of $3.5 billion. Democrats, who have long enjoyed significant margins in the legislature, hold only a 79-72 advantage in the House and the 36-member Senate is tied 18-18, leaving Democrats no votes to spare.
