GOP wants Gov. Lamont to slam brakes on trucks-only tolling plan after Rhode Island court ruling; Lamont downplays ruling

Senate Republicans want Gov. Ned Lamont to slam the brakes on his trucks-only tolling plan after a Rhode Island court allowed a lawsuit to proceed that could block tolls in the neighboring state. “Yesterday’s federal circuit court decision in Rhode Island was merely a procedural ruling regarding whether this case should be heard in a federal or state court – nothing more. It did not decide on, or even address, the merits of the case,” Lamont said Friday. The latest plan, crafted in concert with the House Democrats, calls for truck-only tolls on 12 bridges on six highways across the state, including Interstates 95, 91, and 84.
