A local developer has submitted an application to the town for a zoning exception to build a 12.74-acre, $100 million mixed-use site containing housing, a retail component, restaurant, coffee shop and more at the former Red Lion hotel property. The Lord Cromwell, named after the original occupant of the property, will be located at 100 Berlin Road. It is accessible by Interstate-91, Route 372 and Route 9. The redevelopment adheres to the mixed-used district vision to create a community that offers “live, work and play opportunities within convenient walking distance of each other,” the plans state. There will be a public hearing at a special meeting of the Economic Development Commission May 4.
