The state Department of Transportation has announced the start of construction in a $46 million rehabilitation of the Arrigoni Bridge. Construction work on the 72-year-old bridge is set to begin on or about Feb. 27. The Arrigoni Bridge, built between 1936 and 1938, was the largest and most expensive bridge in the state at the time of its completion. The phase two design will use state-of-the-art technology to improve the safety and reliability of this historic bridge that is named after Charles J. Arrigoni, a state legislator who promoted the project.
