The city hopes to receive a $10 million state grant for the total renovation of its Public Works Department facility on Middletown Avenue. A three-level garage and office space at 34 Middletown Ave. comprises the Public Works Central Services Facility. The City Services and Environmental Policy Committee voted to accept the funds in a recent meeting, and final approval will go before the full Board of Alders Monday. In the 2018-19 budget, the city approved $10 million in the capital projects budget for the renovation, which Zinn said was cutting it to the bone, so the influx of state money will help build a better facility while saving the city $5 million.
