During the demolition process, when the auditorium, music rooms, main office and guidance department areas were knocked down, workers discovered asbestos between the exterior wall of the building and cinder blocks, Gaylord said. Another unforeseen complication arose when the aging electrical wiring for the security and fire systems had to be redone in the “main hub” of the building, Gaylord said. “That slowed us up a little bit, but everything is moving forward, and we’re going to be ready for Day 1 for the kids to come back,” Gaylord added.
