Killingly High School was hoping to get the turf project for its football field approved by the Killingly Town Council earlier this week. A special town meeting to approve the project could not be held since Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont has banned all public gatherings. If the turf field is not approved in May, the project may have to be put off. The Killingly Board of Education allocated $200,000 from this year’s budget toward the $906,000 renovation. Another $364,000 is slated to come from a private donation, but Marcoux is worried that a lengthy delay may result in that donation being withdrawn. Calorio said she expects the Town Council will look to reschedule the special town meeting to sometime after orders are lifted and public meetings can once again be held.
