DOT assumes Cromwell PGA course repairs, hopes for FEMA reimbursement

The state has assumed remediation of the “slope failure” caused by Ida’s heavy rains earlier this month near the TPC River Highlands, which left a refined products pipeline exposed and dozens of feet of train rails unsupported. The massive washout opened up near the golf course’s 13th hole Sept. 2, where large amounts of earth washed down a steep incline toward the Connecticut River. Connecticut Department of Transportation spokesman Kevin Nursick said construction is now underway at the site, where neighbors at the time joked a new river view had opened up. It’s also possible the federal government could reimburse some the state’s costs.
