Developer Plans Elaborate Food Market For Hartford’s Parkville Neighborhood

For more than a year, plans have inched along for a 20,000-square-foot food market in the building Mouta purchased at the turn of the century in the city’s Parkville section. He is talking with more than 40 vendors in and around Hartford to form the Parkville Market, reminiscent of Manhattan’s Chelsea Market and Brooklyn’s Dekalb Market Hall. “We always joke about Parkville being the Brookyln to downtown Hartford,” said Ojala Naeem, the managing director of ReSET, a social enterprise nonprofit on Park Street. “You’re seeing a lot more diversity, not just in the people coming here, but also in the types of businesses and in the types of activities happening here.”
