Bristol gets a $2 million state grant to remediate J.H. Sessions building

The funding comes from the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD)’s Brownfield Remediation Program. It is part of 19 million in state grants to assist with assessment and remediation costs for 31 blighted properties in 23 towns statewide. Department of Housing Commissioner Seila Mosquera-Bruno said that since Gov. Lamont designated construction workers as essential workers at the start of the pandemic, this allowed the state to leverage $175 million in state resources into $1 billion in construction projects. Among these, she said, is the creation of 4,000 total housing units, half of which should be completed by the end of the year.
