The new police station is only halfway completed but already $889,000 over budget, owing mainly to higher-than-expected costs for the electrical, heating and cooling system. The police station has long been a contentious project. Residents rejected a $14.1 million proposal for the new building in 2014, but a year later approved a $13.5 million version. The town broke ground on the two-story, 26,000 square-foot station last May.
