Bradley Airport’s $210M ground transportation facility set to debut next month

A new $210 million ground transportation center at Bradley International Airport is scheduled to open mid-July, state officials said. To celebrate the milestone, Connecticut Airport Authority officials, Gov. Ned Lamont and Department of Transportation Commissioner Joseph J. Giulietti are hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 30. The project broke ground in July 2019 before falling into some financial roadblocks in 2020 during COVID-19. As a result of the novel coronavirus, Bradley Airport’s passenger traffic was down about 60% in 2020 as travel to international and domestic destinations was restricted or limited. Still, because most of the money for the facility was already bonded out, the CAA continued to move forward with the project, and airport travel has rebounded this year.
