Windsor Locks bids for Olympic team for news sports complex

The town has begun the effort to convince a national Olympic team to put its base at the planned All Sports Village, First Selectman J. Christopher Kervick says. All Sports Village is proposed for a 76-acre site on Route 20 between Interstate 91 and Old County Road. When the project was announced, developers said it would be a state of the art facility with 20 basketball courts, 40 volleyball courts, eight lighted artificial turf fields, two hotels, and much more. Kervick added that the Planning and Zoning Commission received the project site plan Monday. Site plan approval is the final step in the land-use approval process. The development has already secured approval of the general plan of development and wetlands. The PZC will hold a public hearing on the plan Aug. 26.
